2018 Mazda RX7 – Based on the RX-VISION Concept

It is clear that the vehicle is heavily based on the RX-VISION concept and that was expected to happen. What we can see is that some segments received changes so that the 2018 Mazda RX7 could be slightly toned down and prepared for production. The low roofline has been raised little bit allowing for additional space inside. This rounds up the changes when looked at from the profile.

The front part of the car brings similarly sized grille that has been touched up together with the bumper and the new headlights. Typical for all vehicles of the Japanese brand, we expect to see chrome surround and the horizontal slats. The biggest change to this segment is related to headlights that show more production ready approach with curved LED strip and housing similar to what has been used on other models in the lineup. With great looking front splitter and large air intakes all over we can say that this one truly looks like one intimidating vehicle.

The dual exhaust tips are nicely integrated into the sides where the rear bumper and diffuser meet. It is also possible that we will see versions with quad exhaust endings further aiding with the sporty feel.

Interior and Infotainment System

When it comes to the interior, the 2018 Mazda RX7 didn’t go far from the concept. It is a simple yet functional layout with buttons and knobs on the central console and display for the infotainment system. The flat bottom steering wheels, sporty gauges, sports seats and aluminum pedals are all speaking about the purpose of this vehicle to deliver perfect ride and handling in a sport-oriented package.

2018 Mazda RX7 – Under the Hood

If you are like us, then this is the part of the review that you waited for the most. The 2018 Mazda RX7 will be battling on the market against vehicles like Porsche Cayman. Under the hood, we have 2.0-liter turbo engine as a base option that produces 250 hp returning decent performances as 0-60 mph run is done in about 5 seconds and top speed is at 150 mph.

The second option is the newly developed rotary powerplant. The new generation is on its way as the engineers worked on lowering fuel consumption and improving CO2 emission.

Cost and Launch Date

The price tag of $35,000 for a base version places the 2018 Mazda RX7 nicely in the current market picture. This sporty model is expected to be unveiled officially before the end of this year.
